New revolution in the field of water based varnish with the UV replacement 
varnish Brilliant AmCa 7818 - 50 from Varcotec GmbH

The new possibility to coating conventional printing inks wet on wet with the new UV replacement varnish Brilliant AmCa 7818-50 with water based varnish without a primer and getting the similar UV effect.

The new dispersion coating was developed to replace glossy UV applications and to produce contemporary, ecological and economical print products with reduced energy consumption while significantly reducing the proportion of microplastics.

The close cooperation with the Van Genechten Group as a development partner and subsequent practical tests at the Kempten plant have shown that the new, innovative UV replacement varnish Brilliant AmCa 7818-50 without primer shows the best results in wet to wet application on conventional printing inks on various substrates. The result under practical conditions and in direct comparison with the same substrate with a UV primer solution is very close to the comparable UV result in terms of gloss and feel.

The applications with primer did not bring any increase in gloss and the unpredictable draw back effect / loss of gloss after drying of the printing ink did not occur either. The Brilliant AmCa 7818 has no loss of gloss after quick drying, neither on the ink nor on the substrates, and there is also no increase in gloss when used wet on dry.

After evaluating all prints with Brilliant AmCa 7818-50, the printers involved agree that Brilliant AmCa 7818 is a new, innovative way of replacing UV gloss varnish.

The feel and gloss are at 96% of UV varnish.

Now every printer with a coating unit and hot air dryer and the corresponding anilox roller UV can produce UV similar prints himself.

Best application Brilliant AmCa 7818 is without primer, depending on the substrate, with a 16 ccm to 21 ccm anilox roller wet in wet on conventional printing inks.

The big benefits:
- The haptics and the gloss are very close to UV varnish, but with the advantages of economy, availability, application, storage, large energy savings compared to UV applications, food applications, no odor and no hazardous goods.

- The new water based varnish significantly reduces the proportion of microplastics compared to UV. !!!
